How To Help Prevent Slips & Falls With Anti-Slip Paints & Coatings

The winter months are upon us once again and that inevitably brings slippery, icy conditions. These conditions often lead to an increase in slips and falls, but there are a few things we can do to help prevent this. Help is at hand whether you are looking for an anti-slip solution for work or home. Read on to find out how you can help prevent slips and falls with anti-slip paints & coatings.

Anti-Slip Paints and Coatings

Protecta-Kote Rubber Anti-Slip Paint contains a rubber crumb that helps to prevent slips and falls. The UVR version also has excellent UV and weather resistance, making it ideal for boats and exterior use.

Apply to metal, concrete, wood, fibreglass, PVC, rubber and glazed tiles. Protecta-Kote UVR is suitable for both interior and exterior use, making it the ideal solution for use on walkways, stairs, floors, steps, exterior ramps for wheelchair access, emergency exits, and any area where an anti-slip coating is required.

Coo-Var Suregrip is a ready to use anti-slip floor paint that is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

It is ideal for use on boats, steps and stairways, disabled ramps, doorways, machinery areas, most floors and other areas where moisture and other substances may cause the floor to be slippery.

Anti Slip GRP

GRP (Glass-Fibre Reinforced Plastic) is a great product to aid in combating slipping accidents on stairs.

We can supply the stair tread covers with white or yellow edge nosing for good visibility in poor lighting conditions. Alternatively, we can offer flat sheets for access ramps. This will benefit wheelchair users, people with disabilities or anybody who simply has trouble using steps.

Over the past few years Promain have supplied Anti-Slip GRP to many council and local authorities, for pedestrian bridges over rivers and roads as well as step edges for fire escapes at industrial and residential sites.

Anti Slip Tapes

Anti Slip TapesProbably the quickest and cheapest form of anti-slip is anti slip tapes.

These are available as rolls in a range of different sizes. We are also able to custom cut them to suit each individual’s needs. These tapes are easy to apply to stairs and steps. A clever trick used on the Centrecoat Conformable Safety Grip Tape is the addition of a thin aluminium backing. This moulds itself to the substrate, making it ideal when applied over checker plate, (a metal sheet with a ribbed texture designed to provide a degree of slip resistance), or uneven surfaces.

Anti-Slip Bolt Down Plates

If you have an external stairwell or step edge that suffers from slip risk, Promain provides a full range of bolt down plates where adhesive or paint application is not suitable. With a non slip coating covering the top surface, bolt down plates are an ideal, heavy duty, anti-slip solution for external and internal use alike.

Centrecoat Anti Slip Flat Plates are for use in all indoor and outdoor environments. Use on many different surfaces to produce an anti slip effect that helps protect users from falling over when conditions are frosty or wet.

The floor plates are easy to install and can be cut to any size.

Centrecoat Tactile GRP Pavers are specially designed for use in outdoor environments to warn people of environmental changes like elevation. They are ideal for side road crossings, and are available in either blister or corduroy patterns.

These Tactile pavers have an expected life span of 25 years!
