Product Description

Jotun Waterfine Acrylic Primer is a one component, fast physically drying, water-borne acrylic coating, for marine and industrial use.

Best Uses

Jotun Waterfine Acrylic Primer is suitable as a primer or mid coat in atmospheric environments. Suitable for properly prepared carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, galvanised steel, shop primed steel, concrete and a range of aged coating surfaces. Recommended for accommodation, engine room, topside and superstructure marine applications. Suitable for a wide range of industrial structures requiring a protective finish.

Heat resistant in dry, atmospheric environments up to 80°C continuously.

Application

Depending on the actual exposure of the coating system, various primers and topcoats can be used in combination with this product. Some examples are shown below. Contact Promain for specific system recommendation. Previous compatible coats are acrylic, epoxy shop primer, inorganic zinc shop primer, epoxy. Subsequent coats should be acrylic only.

Use airless spray or conventional spray (thin 5-10 % with fresh clean water). Brush is recommended for stripe coating and small areas. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.

For carbon steel prepare to Sa 2.5. For Stainless Steel or Aluminium, hand or machine abrade with non-metallic abrasives or bonded fibre machine or hand abrasive pads to impart a scratch pattern to the surface and to remove all polish from the surface. For galvanised steel, prepare by light brush blasting using non metallic
abrasive leaving a clean, rough and even pattern. For shop primed steel, prepare to Sa 2. For concrete, allow a mnimum 4 weeks curing. Moisture content maximum 5 %. Dry abrasive blast cleaning to SSPC-SP 13/NACE No. 6.
