Coo-Var Decorative Flake System is a three part decorative floor coating which provides a a hard wearing and attractive floor coating for public areas.
The Coo-Var Decorative Flake floor coating is a three part system, comprising a base colour coat, decorative flakes and a clear (water based) top coat. It provides a hard wearing finish that is aesthetically pleasing.
Coo-Var Decorative Flake System is ideal for use in public areas, where aesthetics are as important as durability. Examples of which include factories, warehouses and large reception areas, etc.
The Decorative Flake System has a three part process of application. The Profloor Plus base coat is applied with a brush or roller. This is followed by the decorative flakes, which are broadcast and finally sealed with the Extra Performance Clear (top) Coat. This top coat is also applied with a brush or roller.
Please note, a primer may be required for some projects. Please contact the Promain technical team for more information.
All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in
addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months. Other surfaces have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate.
Existing painted surfaces - Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly.
Apply direct to ordinary stable concrete. Coo-Var High Performance Primer should be used where the surface is smooth, polished or porous. On Metal use Teamac 2 Pack Zinc Phosphate Primer. Can be used on wood asphalt and tarmac. Coo-Var Dampshield and Coo-Var Oil Tolerant Primers are also available.
You should have two containers: one larger than the other and labelled Hardener. The other smaller one labelled Base. The contents of the pack marked Base are added to the contents of the larger pack marked Hardener and thoroughly mixed together. Use a slow speed electric mixer to ensure the items are fully mixed together as poorly mixed product can lead to uncured areas and gel spots. This will make up one 5 kilo unit of Profloor Plus Floorpaint.
