Product Description

Hempel Hempadur 47300 is a two-component epoxy paint, which cures to a hard and tough coating with good resistance to abrasion and seawater. Conforms to NORSOK M-501, Ed. 6, system no. 1.

Best Uses

Hempel Hempadur 47300 is best used as a midcoat epoxy and self-primed high performance coating system for atmospheric exposure. HEMPADUR 47300 is intended for all year application down to -10°C/14°F and for in-shop applications where fast re-coating and handling is required. For longer overcoating intervals, the MIO version of this product, shade 12430, is recommended. Contact Promain Technical for details.

Application

New steel: Remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with suitable detergent. Remove salts and other contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning. Abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007). For temporary protection, if required, use a suitable shop primer. All damage to shop primer and contamination from storage and fabrication should be thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting. For repair and touch-up use: HEMPADUR 47300.

Repair and maintenance: Remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with suitable detergent. Remove salts and other contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning. Clean damaged areas thoroughly by power tool cleaning to St 3 (ISO 8501-1:2007) (minor areas) or by abrasive blasting to min. Sa 2, preferably to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007). Improved surface preparation will improve the performance of the product.

Other substrates: Contact Hempel or Promain Technical.

Apply only on a dry and clean surface with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation. Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above: -10°C/14°F. The temperature of the paint itself should be above: 15°C/59°F. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.

Notes

  • Has a tendency to yellow after application. This will have no influence on the performance.
