Best Uses

Hempel Hempadur 47940 is best used for application in the marine and industrial environment for providing a high adhesion primer to the surface ready for a decorative top-coat to be applied.

Application

Hempel Hempadur 47940 can be applied using spray for large surface coverage of approximately 6.1m2 per litre and can also be applied using brush or roller for smaller trickier areas. New steel: Abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007). For temporary protection, if required, use a suitable shop primer. All damage of shop primer and contamination from storage and fabrication should be thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting. For repair and touch-up use: HEMPADUR ZP 47940.

Application onto non-sealed aluminium/zinc metallised surfaces or zinc silicates: A proper mist-coat technique is necessary in order to avoid/reduce the risk of “popping”/ ”pinholes”. Depending on the actual conditions of application, add thinner up to: 50%.

Surface and Environment

Hempel Hempadur 47940 is ideal for use in an external environment and should be applied to structural steel found in atmospheric conditions. Please feel free to give us a call for more information about the range of Hempel products and their best uses.
