Jotun Ultra Topcoat has been developed as a quick drying alkyd topcoat that contains aromatic solvents. A key benefit, provided by Jotun Ultra Topcoat, is that it offers good gloss retention that lasts for many years. Designed to be applied as a topcoat to steel not only in the marine industry for superstructures of boats and other marine crafts but for general application to metal used in the construction industry.
Jotun Ultra Topcoat is recommended for use on surfaces such as engines, topsides or decks and superstructures within marine environments. It can also be utilised as a protective coating for a wide range of industrial structures and substrates in industrial environments.
Application is recommended by airless or conventional spray but for small areas such as strip coating a brush or roller can be used. A small amount around 5% Jotun Thinner No 7 can be added, but care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness. Jotun Ultra Topcoat can be re-coated with products containing xylene or stronger solvents. Ultra Topcoat is both a physically drying and oxidative paint, which means that as well as the process of the solvent evaporating into the atmosphere, it will also react with oxygen. For these reason Jotun Ultra Topcoat should be over coated either within 30 hours or after 7 days.
Jotun Ultra Topcoat is for use on metal substrates within marine and industrial environments. It is particularly recommended as a topcoat in environments susceptible to atmospheric corrosion.
