Best Uses

Jotun Penguard HSP ZP is formulated for use as a primer in atmospheric environments. Suitable for properly prepared carbon steel substrates. Suitable for structural steel and piping to be exposed to corrosive environments. Recommended for power plants, airports, buildings, refineries and mining equipment.

Designed as a primer for Jotun's Steelmaster intumescent thin film passive fire protection coatings.

Application

To secure lasting adhesion to the subsequent product all surfaces shall be clean, dry and free from any contamination. Optimum performance, including adhesion, corrosion protection, heat resistance and chemical resistance is achieved with recommended surface preparation. For Carbon Steel, prepare to Sa 2.5. For Shop Primed Steel, prepare via abrasive sweep or alternatively blasted to Sa 2 (ISO 8501-1) of at least 70 % of the surface. For Coated Surfaces, clean, dry and undamaged compatible coating (ISO 12944-4 6.1).

Apply via airless spray. Use a brush for stripe coating and small areas. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
