Owatrol Deep Cleaner Oil Remover and Cleaner

Owatrol Deep Cleaner is a powerful, water washable, solvent free remover and cleaner that strips out new, old and encrusted oils from exterior wooden surfaces and cleans severely weathered wood in marine environments.

Owatrol Deep Cleaner is a biodegradable, deep cleaner is suitable for environmentally sensitive areas in marine environments. Owatrol Deep Cleaner's gel consistency means it will not run, making it ideal for vertical surfaces. This product is easy to apply and fast acting, Owatrol Deep Cleaner quickly and efficiently removes mill glaze, which is created in the manufacturing process, from the surface of new wood, thus improving the penetration and adhesion of a finish.

Owatrol Deep Cleaner is ideal for all exterior marine wood such as sofwoods, hardwoods including exotic and broad leaved woods. It is ideal for the cleaning of wooden boat decks, safety wooden handrails and wooden boat trims. Ideal for both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Application

Always carry out a preliminary test prior to commencing the job, to determine the contact time necessary for stripping or cleaning the wood.

Test Procedure
Apply Owatrol Deep Cleaner and allow to work 5 minutes. Scrub surface to see if finish or dirt is lifting. If lifting commence with job, if not wait a further 5 minutes and test again, continue this process up to a maximum of 20 minutes.

When stripping or cleaning areas that have caulking, ALWAYS carry out a test by applying Owatrol Deep Cleaner to a small area and allow it to sit for 20 minutes before scrubbing and rinsing off to determine that there is no reaction. Wear chemical resistant gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing. Always treat stripped and cleaned surfaces with Owatrol Deep Cleaner to neutralise the surface and restore the woods colour.

Woods rich in tannins e.g. Cedar, Oak, Teak, Mahogany... may darken with Owatrol Deep Cleaner. Where Owatrol Deep Cleaner has darkened the wood DO NOT allow it to dry, prior to using Owatrol Deep Cleaner. Cover and protect everything you do not wish to strip or clean, including any aluminium surfaces. When stripping or cleaning vertical surfaces, work from bottom to top to avoid streaking. Apply between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F). Do not apply in direct sunlight or to a hot surface. Do not allow Owatrol Deep Cleaner to dry on the surface. If drying occurs dampen with a mist application of water.

Remove any loose and flaking finish. Brush off any physical surface contamination e.g. moss, general dirt etc.

Use as is, Do Not dilute. Work large areas in zones. Always work in direction of the grain. Do not use a wire brush. After rinsing, immediately treat surface with Owatrol Marine Deck Cleaner while still wet. Allow wood to dry thoroughly, 2-3 days, before refinishing.

Stripping and Cleaning
Work in areas that can be completed in 5-20 minutes, then move on to the next area until entire surface is stripped or clean. Apply Owatrol Deep Cleaner to the area to be stripped or cleaned and allow to work. After time established in the test, scrub surface with a stiff scrubbing brush, if required flush with water at the same time OR use a pressure washer (max 60 bars/870 psi). Thoroughly rinse the surface after stripping/cleaning including any adjacent areas, with fresh clean water. NB: The use of hot water makes the job easier.

Removing Mill Glaze
Apply Owatrol Deep Cleaner to the area to be treated. Allow to work 15 minutes. Scrub surface with stiff scrubbing brush, if required flush with water at the same time OR use a pressure washer (max 60 bars/870 psi). After removing the mill glaze, thoroughly rinse the surface including any adjacent areas with fresh clean water.

Always apply Owatrol Marine Deck Cleaner after cleaning or stripping to neutralise the surface and restore the wood’s colour.
