MIO (Micaceous Iron Oxide) Paints

MIO (Micaceous Iron Oxide) paints provide protection of structural steel by incorporating flakes that act as fish scales within the paint formula. Due to the scale like formation, the steel is protected by a shiny barrier that protects against water ingress, UV light and degradation of the steel surface.
As standard, the natural colour of MIO pigment is a dark, charcoal grey. Some MIO coatings also contain aluminium flake (another lamellar pigment) to lighten the colour. MIO coatings are formulated for high performance in harsh environments such as steel bridges, oil rigs and offshore environments.
