Selemix 8-553 2k Polyurethane Extra Topcoat is a water based paint that has been formulated with polyurethane enamel which makes the product extremely resistant to atmospheric attack, chemical and mechanical abrasion. Also being polyurethane formulated it will give a high end matt finish that has excellent colour retention and hardness also 8-553 can be tinted to match the majority of RAL, BS or NCS colour codes and being water-based means it is an environmentally friendly product without any compromise on performance or finish.
When used as a topcoat over an applicable Selemix primer it will provide protection from the elements in aggressive environment for items such as mild steel, bare steel, phosphate steel, stainless steel, previously coated steel, galvanised steel, zinc sprayed steel, grp, plant equipment, diggers, dumpers, earthmovers, power barrows, screed pumps, generators, bowsers, rollers, roller breaker, breakers, tarmac cutters, fuel bowsers, street masters, back hoes, tower lights, agricultural equipment, tractors, trailers, bailers, muck spreaders, ploughs, harvesters, combine harvesters, light industrial equipment, machine tools, lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, steel saws, pull saws, table saws, drill presses, fly presses, drop forgers, guillotines, break presses, workshop equipment, trolley jacks, engine hoists, welding machines, parts washers, wheel balancers, steel structures, roller shutter doors, garage doors, cars, trucks, motorcycles plus many more.
Selemix 5-553 is best used to top coat a compatible Selemix primer such as 8-450, when used as a topcoat in the aforementioned paint system 8-553 is perfect for application on to items such as mild steel, galvanised steel, phosphate steel, previously coated steel, stainless steel, zinc sprayed steel, steel structures, railings, handrails, balustrade, stanchion, workshop equipment, trolley jacks, car hoists, engine lifts, welding machines, parts washers, agricultural equipment, tractors, trailers, bailers, muck spreaders, combine harvesters, ploughs, tillers, plant equipment, diggers, dumpers, earth movers, excavators, jcb’s, street masters, back hoes, generators, screed pumps, bowsers, fuel bowsers, pressure washers, light industrial equipment, machine tools, lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, steel saws, pull saws, table saws, drill presses, fly presses, drop forgers, guillotines, break presses, steel structures, roller shutter doors, garage doors, cars, trucks, motorcycles plus many more
Substrates will need to be suitably abraded and degreased before application, can also be as a wet on wet application over a compatible Selemix primer.
Selemix 8-552 can be applied by both airmix and conventional spray equipment, when applied at a 50 micron thickness has a theoretical coverage of 4-4.5 m2 per litre. For best results always apply 2 coats.
As Selemix 8-552 is a 2 pack product it will need to be combined with Selemix Hardener 9-560 at a general ratio of 6 to 1, it will also need to be thinned by 20-30% volume with clean water prior to application, always consult the technical datasheet prior to use for applicable ratio.
