This is an extract from a price increases letter from a major manufacturer at the beginning of February 2011:
“Since 2009 the Seedlac harvests in the only manufacturing countries – India and Thailand – have been extremely poor. This has resulted in a worldwide shortage.
As a direct consequence our purchase price for this essential raw material has risen sharply. It is currently up by 450% on the 2009 price. Unfortunately, there with no guarantee it will not increase further”.
These price increases are being passed on to us but we are doing all we can to keep increase in prices to a minimum.
