ITV Love Your Home & Garden II – Episode 2

Following on from episode 1 of ITV Love Your Home & Garden II with Alan Titchmarsh, Promain were pleased to once again help Alan improve the life of another family who were featured in the second episode.

About Love Your Home & Garden

The programme recognises inspirational people who have found themselves struggling with disabilities or serious health issues. They receive a surprise make-over that will massively improve the quality of their lives and make living with their disabilities easier. The builds are always extremely high quality – designed by professional architects and established garden designers to a very high spec.

The Family

The family in need of help in this episode were Anne & Mike of Hemel Hempstead, Herts. Anne is an exceptional woman who devotes all of her time to her husband Mike and their grandchildren. Mike sadly suffers from Parkinson’s disease, Dementia and Diabetes. However, despite his ailments he has a wicked sense of humour!

Anne spends all her time caring for her husband on a daily basis. In addition, her daughter and her two grandchildren also occupy a large area of the home. As you can imagine the home is a very busy environment. Both daughter and mum have worked their schedules and lives around the needs of the grandchildren and Anne’s husband.

The Issues Facing The Family

Anne and Mike currently occupy the bottom floor of the home, whilst their daughter and grandchildren live upstairs. Mike has difficulties with stairs and mobility in general. Access at the back of the house is very troublesome and this has meant that he has been unable to enjoy the garden the way he used to. With Anne and Mike spending all of their time together it was important that they were able to get outside and keep Mike moving as much as possible, while he still has the ability.
