Crossrail Stations
There are various Crossrail stations that Promain have provided coatings as part of the development and renovation works.
Moorgate Station
As part of the work undertaken by Crossrail, the station entrance for Moorgate station was under refurbishment. The newly renovated station has a central concourse linking Liverpool Street and Moorgate stations. There are also two new platforms that are more than 200 metres long.
Back in 2017, Sharpfibre Ltd worked with Promain’s technical team to specify anti rust paint for metal items found within the station. Our technical team recommended the use of PPG’s Sigmacover 2. Read on to find out more about this all in one topcoat / primer paint for metal.
Tottenham Court Road Station
Also in 2017, we provided the long missed 3M EA9 WB to VJ Technology to protect Tottenham Court Station. Unfortunately, 3M closed their paints and coatings division shortly after this date leaving a hole in the London Underground specification. Luckily, PPG’s Sigmacover 2 provides a solution for future projects!
Tottenham Court Road’s Elizabeth line eastern ticket hall provides an interchange with the Northern and Central lines. The ticket hall is six times the original size. It also includes a new public plaza and station entrances outside Centre Point.
Farringdon Station
In 2019, Promain supplied the grey metal rust primer topcoat all in one Sigmacover 2 to Farringdon station. This was tinted to RAL 7001.
Upon the opening of the Elizabeth line, Farringdon will be one of the busiest stations in the UK. Farringdon now connects with Thameslink and the London Underground to provide links with outer London, the home counties, the City, Canary Wharf and three of London’s five airports.
Bond Street Station
Continuing with the grey theme, Promain’s sales team provided DMC Contracts Ltd Sigmacover 2 in RAL 7040 and RAL 7001 to Bond Street Station in 2019 and 2020. This was also alongside the appropriate thinner / cleaner for the equipment: PPG Thinner 91-92.
Introducing PPG Sigmacover 2: Topcoat and Primer Paint for Metal
Unlike cheap metal paint, PPG SigmaCover 2 is a two-pack high solids epoxy for steel and concrete. Ideal for use below ground, you can apply Sigmacover 2 in low temperatures. You can even apply it down to freezing point!
It is London Underground approved, under LuL Certificate No 1329.
PPG SigmaCover 2 (formerly Amerlock 2C) is a two pack epoxy paint that offers a fast drying solution. This is ideal for renovation timescales on sites such as Crossrail and London Underground.
PPG SigmaCover 2 is similar to PPG SigmaCover 400, in that it can be used to offer excellent adhesion properties to existing coatings. We have also supplied SigmaCover 400 to Crossrail sites.
Furthermore, PPG SigmaCover 2 has been specially manufactured as a professional coating for use on bridges, tank exteriors, containers, oil tanks and bunds.
