Carboline Carbozinc 859
Carboline Carbozinc 859 is a low VOC organic zinc epoxy steel primer with extremely fast cure-to-topcoat characteristics for inshop applications and quick turnaround requirements in the field. Class B friction rating.
Best Uses
Carbozinc 859 is an outstanding zinc-rich primer that has very desirable application characteristics. It has outstanding corrosion resistance and is used extensively in virtually all industrial markets. It can be topcoated in as little as 30 minutes, cure down to 35°F (2°C), and applies with little or no thinning. The corrosion resistance of this product rivals that of inorganic zinc primers, and with appropriate topcoat, can often outperform a comparable 3-coat sytem.
Application
Always ensure that the surfaces to be coated are fully prepped prior to application. The surfaces must be clean and dry. Employ adequate methods to remove any dirt, dust, oil and all other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion of the coating.
Steel:
SSPC-SP6 withO a 1.0-3.0 mil (25-75 micron) surface profile.
SSPC-SP2 or SP3 with a roughened surface for touch-up.
When using under fireproofing products, defer to the primer surface preparation requirements in the product data sheet of the fireproofing product.
The recommended application method is by Conventional or Airless spray. A brush or roller can be used on small areas only.
