Network Rail specify a range of paint systems for protection against corrosion on their assets. Network Rail assets include bridges and gantries throughout the UK rail network. Promain Paints are able to offer fully tested and certified long term anti-corrosion coating systems from a range of manufacturers. Approved Network Rail coatings manufacturers include PPG, Jotun, Sherwin Williams and Hempel.
Due to disruption to train services required to prepare and for the application of these coatings, access must happen as infrequently as possible. It is extremely important to minimise down-time for the transport network as this can be costly for both the system and the users.
Depending on the level of preparation carried out, Promain are able to offer various life expectancy systems. For example, Promain can offer at least 15 years for hand tool prepared surfaces (St3), and 25 years for grit blasted surfaces (Sa2.5).
Promain Paints are also able to offer specialised maintenance coatings for site applied work. We are also able to provide specified systems for new works. This can be for both workshop and site application on galvanised metal.
