Axalta Alesta E is suitable for use on any ferrous metals, it is particularly suitable for storage tanks for the water industry. Also suitable for use on gas cylinders, wind energy and under hood and body automotive components.

Please note that due to the poor UV resistance of epoxy resins, use should be restricted to parts that are not directly exposed to sunlight.

Application

The surface to be coated should be properly prepared before application. This can be either by degreasing followed by a chemical conversion to reach the required level of protection against corrosion:

• Substrate to be clean and free of grease and oil. Any imperfections to be repaired.
• Substrate pretreatment Zinc phosphate or Zirconium phosphate pretreatment.

Or by Gritblasting to SA2.5 with a profile of 100-175 microns.  Always ensure that all grit is removed before applying powder.

Powder Application

• Application by electrostatic spray to cold or preheated substrate.
• Thickness Minimum film thickness of 125 microns on all surfaces, i.e. both sides of the plates.
• Coating to be holiday tested to ensure the coating is holiday free (i.e. free of pinholes)
