Carboguard 690 is a versatile epoxy that has outstanding wetting and adhesion properties, quick-cure characteristics, and extreme tolerance of high moisture conditions both during and after application. It has low-temperature curing (- 6°C) capability, extending the painting season.
- Low-temperature cure (20°F)(- 6°C)
- Excellent moisture tolerance during application
- Excellent barrier to moisture in service
- Non-Blushing
- High solids, Low VOC
- High Build (up to 16 mils)
- Semi-gloss finish
Carboline Carboguard 690 is ideal for numerous industries including, water and wastewater, architectural, marine, metals and mining, oil and gas. It is also ideal for pipelines and terminals, power industries, pulp and paper manufacturing, bridges and highways, and even chemical processing plants.
It can also be used in immersion service for salt water, process water (non-potable) and waste water treatment projects and is ideal for coatings under insulation up to 300°F (149°C).
Application
Remove any oil or grease from the surface to be coated with clean rags soaked in Carboline Thinner #2, or toluol.
- For Steel Under Immersion: SSPC-SP10; Surface Profile: 1.5-3.0 mils (38-75 microns)
- For Steel Not Under Immersion: SSPC-SP6; Surface Profile: 1.5-3.0 mils (38-75 microns) In certain situations hand tool or power tool cleaning (SSPC-SP2 or 3) is acceptable for thicknesses up to 8 mils (200 microns)
- For Stainless Steel SSPC-SP 16: for immersion service create 1.5-3.0 mils (38-75 microns) anchor profile
- For Concrete or CMU: Clean and dry. Remove all loose, unsound concrete. Do not apply coating unless concrete hascured at least 28 days @ 70°F (21°C) and 50% Relative Humidity or equivalent.
Mechanically mix both components and combine. Thin up to 12.5% by volume with Carboline Thinner #2 for non-immersion applications and Carboline Thinner #10 for immersion projects.
Apply via conventional or airless spray as per data sheet recommendations. Also suitable for brush or roller application.
