Preparation: Always ensure all surfaces are clean, oil free and dry. Clean the surface and remove possible oil and grease with a suitable detergent and sand with dry abrasive paper. Carefully remove dust with fresh water.

Preparation For uncoated surfaces: Glass fibre: Sand and remove all dust.

Preparation For Steel: Remove salt and other contaminants by (high pressure) fresh water cleaning. Remove all rust and loose material by abrasive blasting or power tool cleaning. Dust off residues.

Preparation For Aluminium: High pressure fresh water clean. Abrasive blast with non-metallic abrasive. Abrade, clean and dry the surface.

Preparation For Plywood: Sand and remove all dust. Seal the dry clean surface with suitable wood sealer.

Preparation For Previously coated surfaces: Abrade, clean and dry the surface.

Method: Uncoated surfaces below waterline: Prime porous surfaces with first coat of the product thinned with specified Hempel Thinner: max. 20%. Finally, apply 3-5 coats to obtain full film thickness. Add thinner to assist application if necessary: max. 5%. Overcoat with specified Hempel primer/tiecoat and chosen antifouling while the product is still tacky. It is essential to prime aluminium substrates up to 300 micron minimum dry film thickness. Uncoated surfaces above waterline: Prime porous surfaces with first coat of the product thinned with specified Hempel Thinner: max. 20%. Finally, apply 2 coats of the product. Add thinner to assist application if necessary: max. 5%. Overcoat with chosen topcoat. Previously coated surface: Abrade, clean and dry the surface. Apply 1 coat of the product.
