Internal Limewash Paint has been specially developed for use on interior walls and ceilings. Available in a range of different colours, this Limewash paint is an increasingly popular product offering a finish similar to that of a washed out emulsion.
Internal Limewash can be applied to a number of internal surfaces including, Lime Render, Lime Plaster, Concrete, Emulsion, Lining Paper, Lath and Plaster or Stoothing Walls and is commonly applied to walls and ceilings where a non-blistering finish is desired.
Whilst Limewash offers a certain degree of flexibility, it is not elastomeric and consequently does not stretch with wall and ceiling movement, so small cracks can appear. This finish provides both an authentic period look and feel, which is ideal in many older buildings, whilst many people also consider this property to be highly decorative when used in the right environment.
Internal Limewash is also highly water permeable and breathable and because of this will not flake, peel or blister.
Plan your application in advance, NEVER coat in full sun as this will result in too fast a dry time and leads to a poor finish. Brushing is the recommended method of application, using a roller can result in too thick a coat being applied and this can also lead to a poor finish resulting in the limewash 'mud cracking'.
Remember it can take several days for the limewash to dry out, only then will the final colour be achieved as varying moisture levels and atmospheric conditions can give variations in the tone of the limewash.
