International Interzinc 52E replaces Interzinc 52 which has now been discontinued.

Best Uses

Interzinc 52E is best used as a high performance primer to give maximum protection as part of any anti-corrosive coating system for aggressive environments, including those found on offshore structures, such as:

  • Petrochemical facilities
  • Pulp and paper plants
  • Bridges
  • Power plants

Compliant with the performance requirements of:

  • ISO 12944:2018 C5 (Onshore)
  • ISO 12944:2018 CX Offshore

Application

The recommended application method is by Airless Spray or Air Spray (pressure pot). Interzinc 52E is also suitable for application by Brush, however application by Roller is not recommended.

Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from contamination. Prior to application all
surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000.

Oil or grease should be removed in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.

Abrasive Blast Cleaning
Abrasive blast clean to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6. If oxidation has occurred between blasting and application of Interzinc 52E, the surface should be re-blasted to the specified visual standard.

Any surface defects that are revealed by the blast cleaning process should be ground, filled, or treated in the appropriate manner. A surface profile of 40-75 microns (1.6-3.0 mils) is recommended.

Shop Primed Steelwork
Interzinc 52E may be applied to zinc shop primers which have been sweep blasted. Weld seams and damaged areas should be blast cleaned to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPCSP10.
