FLAG Acid Etch Solution has been expertly blended to provide a pre-treatment for concrete power floated or very smooth concrete floors that is applied to create a good key before applying single or two pack floor paints. FLAG Acid Etch Solution is a water-based solution that helps open the pores of the concrete and prepares the surface to accept its next treatment, be it a paint coating or a floor sealer. Power floated floors are extremely smooth, and floor paints have difficulty in adhering to the surface, following a treatment with FLAG Acid Etch the surface has a slight texture to the surface, this texture provides a good key for the paint to stick to.
When applying Acid Etch to a floor, you will notice the solution will fizz, this is the acid reacting with the concrete. The Acid Etch needs to be applied until this fizzing stops. After application of Acid Etch to a floor, the floor will need to be rinsed with clean water to wash the acid etch away and allowed to completely dry before the floor paint is applied. This is especially essential when applying solvent based floor paints or line marking, but when applying water based floor paint it is not as critical. When calculating the amount of product required, we would suggest you base your calculations on approximately 20m2 per litre.
