International Intergard 2509
International Intergard 2509 is a two component epoxy primer which contains zinc phosphate anti-corrosive pigmentation.
Best Uses
Intergard 2509 is suitable for use on a range of industrial facilities and infrastructure assets where low film thickness is required.
When used in combination with approved topcoats, Intergard 2509 offers effective anti-corrosive protection in various atmospheric environments.
Application
The recommended application method for this product is either Airless Spray or Air Spray (pressure pot). Application by brush or roller is suitable for small areas and stripe coating only, it may be necessary to apply multiple coats to achieve the required film build and uniform opacity.
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from contamination. Prior to paint application, all steel surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000.
Oil or grease should be removed in accordance with SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning.
Steel
Abrasive blast clean to a minimum of Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6. If oxidation has occurred between blasting and application of Intergard 2509 the surface should be re-blasted to the specified visual standard. Any surface defects that are revealed by the blast cleaning process should be ground, filled, or treated in the appropriate manner. A sharp, angular surface profile of 50 microns (2 mils) is recommended.
Shop Primed Steelwork
Weld seams and damaged areas should be abrasive blast cleaned to a minimum Sa2½ standard (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC SP6. Where this is not practical, preparation to SSPC SP11 is acceptable.
