Rust-Oleum 769/780 Anti-Rust Damp Proof Primer is a Metal Primer that is developed for application on hand tool prepared sound rusted steel surfaces. Although primarily intended for brush application it can also be applied by roller or spray. If applied on damp surfaces, the unique fish oil formulation will drive out trapped moisture and air, preventing rust formation beneath the paint layer.
769/780 Damp Proof Primers are excellent at penetrating through rust to the metal, in order to drive out moisture and air and encapsulate the rust. 769 is a red tinted Anti Rust Metal Primer (780 is a grey shade) which has been specifically designed for use on rusted steel surfaces, preventing the formation of rust. Once applied, this Metal Primer is recoatable with virtually any Rustoleum paint.
Damp Proof Primer is designed for use on metal substrates and can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Promain would strongly recommend using a brush for a more desirable finish, however. The 769/780 primers are touch dry within 4 hours and available to recoat after 24 hours.
769/780 Damp Proof Primers can be applied to slightly damp surfaces, making it ideal for use in light industrial exposure conditions. 769/780 Anti-Rust Primers should be used on metal surfaces, especially rusted steel, for maximum performance.
