Product Description

Sherwin Williams Resuprime MP is an economic filled two-pack solvent-free epoxy resin primer. Formulated as a scratch coat primer for use prior to the application of screeds and coating systems.

Best Uses

Sherwin Williams Resuprime MP is designed for easy application with good surface wetting properties.

Sherwin Williams Resuprime MP is principally designed as a scratch coat primer for use prior to the application of screeds and coating systems. Due to its application characteristics, Resuprime MP can fill surface defects in concrete substrates reducing the surface profile.

  • Ease of application
  • Versatile
  • Pre-filled
  • Low odour
  • Excellent adhesion
  • Solvent free

Recommended for use as a scratch coat concrete primer and sealer. As a primer for Resuflor Screed, Resuflor Q Screed, Resuflor SLX and Resuflor HB.

Application

Resuprime MP provides excellent coverage and adhesion as a primer. Where surfaces are very porous, an initial coat of Resuprime MP may be required as a pre-primer before a second coat is applied.

Do not apply Resuprime MP to substrates with a relative humidity of 75% or above. Substrates with a high moisture content should alternatively be primed with Dampepox WBC T50 or Resuprime MVT (number of coats dependant on moisture content – see separate data sheet).

New Concrete Floors: New concrete must be clean, sound, dry, fully cured and surface laitance removed by vacuum enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding. A minimum compressive strength of 25N/mm² is required.

Existing Concrete Floors: Remove all dirt, oil, grease, old coatings or any other surface contaminants by vacuum enclosed shot blasting, scarification or mechanical grinding. Fats, oils or greases must be removed by mechanical means and detergent washing making sure all residue of detergent is washed away by rinsing with clean water. Local repairs should be carried out using Resuflor Patch or Resuflor Screed. If the substrate appears weak and dusts easily, the matrix of the screed can be strengthened using Resuprime Binder, a low viscosity binder formulated for the repair of defective substrates.

Existing Floors (previously coated): All previous coatings and loose floor paints must be removed by mechanical preparation as described above and primed as specified. If the old resin flooring cannot be removed then please consult with our technical team for advice on inter-coat adhesion and suitability, as the product may not be compatible with the existing floor coating.

The ambient temperatures of the area should not be allowed to fall below 10°C throughout the application and curing period as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and physical properties of the system. Surface temperature must be above 8°C. Where possible, it is recommended that the application area is
heated to a minimum temperature of 15°C to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise prior to installation.

Mix the entire contents of the base with the hardener using a low speed electric mixer for approximately two to three minutes until the two components are fully combined. If a separate mixing bucket is being used, mix thoroughly ensuring that the entire contents of both components are removed from the original containers supplied.

The mixed material should be applied immediately by trowel for scratch coating and by roller or brush for lower consumption rates as necessary. If used as a base coat for a coatings without a broadcast, floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure even application and to minimise roller marks.
