PPG SigmaTherm 540 Moisture Cure Silicone
PPG SigmaTherm 540 is a one component heat resistant moisture curing silicone coating that produces a slick aluminium finish designed for protecting surfaces at extreme temperatures.
The clue is in the name for what this product actually does, as this extremely high performing product works to resist temperatures of up to and including 540°C.
Best Uses
SigmaTherm 540 can be used internally or externally in heavy industrial or construction environments and works to provide the ultimate protection to surfaces that could potentially suffer from heat damage. When used externally SigmaTherm 540 provides top resistance against weathering and offers a degree of UV light resistance with an aluminium finish.
Application
SigmaTherm 540 should be applied using a spray gun to improve the appearance of the surface but can be applied using brush or roller for touch ups too. SigmaTherm 540 is dry to touch after just 45 minutes at 20°C and can be overcoated in 16 hours. Make sure you leave 3 days for the product to cure at 20°C before you expose the surface to heat, this is vital in ensuring the product has adhered to the surface properly and will perform properly.
Surface and Environment
SigmaTherm 540 can be used on a variety of metal substrates and is ideally suited for use on engines and steel exposed to high temperatures. this product is heat resistant of up to 540°C on steel and 400°C on rusted steel that has been cleaned with a power tool.
Notes
- Heat resistant up to 540°C on steel, grit blasted to SSPC SP10/NACE 2
- Heat resistant up to 400°C on rusted steel, power tools cleaned to ISO-St3
- A minimum drying time of 3 days at 20°C should be allowed before exposure to heat
