Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer MIO Solvent is a high build primer that benefits from combined exceptional corrosion resistance, maximum grip to steel and previous primers. Provides a permanently ideal surface for intumescent paint adhesion.

Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer MIO Solvent is ideal for use under  Thermoguard Thermocoat WI, Thermoguard Thermocoat WO or Thermoguard Thermocoat S intumescents, for corrosion resistance in normal buildings or as part of a high corrosion resistant system when overcoated with Thermoguard Flame Retardant Paints.

Formulated for structural steel frames requiring full or partial fire protection with Thermocoat intumescent paints. Provides a quick drying high build, corrosion-resistant primer for structural steel.

• A primer finish for normal exposure conditions in 2 coats
• A primer for severe exposure in 2 coats when overcoated with 2 coats Thermoguard Flame Retardant Gloss or Eggshell
• Ideal initial coating below Thermocoat intumescent paint for internal, external under construction or indefinitely partially exposed structural steel
• Attractive metallic finish available in Dark Grey
• Zinc phosphate and Micaceous Iron Oxide for exceptional corrosion resistance and adhesion
• Long-oil alkyd resin ideal to overcoat with Thermocoat intumescent after erection

Application

Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer MIO Solvent should be applied promptly to blast cleaned steel or steel hand-tool cleaned and abraded to ST2. Alternatively, this product should be applied to sound and firmly adhered primers, eggshell or gloss paints.

Apply promptly to blast cleaned or hand-tool cleaned steel before flash-rusting, or over well adhered primers and well adhered and abraded primer-finishes, gloss or eggshell paints. If applying via airless spray, this product is ready for use - apply using a 21 thou tip. For use with conventional low pressure spray – thin up to 10% with thinners as required. Brush or roller application on repairs and general structural steel straight from the tin.

Application Conditions: Min. 5°C, metal min 3°C above dew point, max 85% RH. Avoid getting wet for 24+ hrs.

Ideal for overcoating with itself, Thermoguard Thermocoat WI, Thermoguard Thermocoat WO or Thermoguard Thermocoat S intumescent paint or decorative gloss & eggshell.
