Hempel Hempinol 10220 is a physically drying, high-build, bituminous coating.
Best Uses
Hempinol 10220 is best used as an inexpensive short to medium term anti-corrosive protection paint. It is suitable for use on both interior and exterior steelwork that is not exposed to direct sunlight. It can be used on mnew build or for maintenance and repair. Bitumen based high build coating.
Please note that Hempinol 10220 is not resistant to continuous mechanical stress.
Application
Application is by either Airless spray, conventional spray or brush. Please be aware that if you choose application by brush, this will require more coats to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
To begin, you will need to remove all oil, grease and other contaminants by using a suitable detergent. Ensure you remove salts, detergents and other contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning.
New Build
- Abrasive blasting to min. Sa 2 (ISO 8501-1) / SP 6 (SSPC).
- Remove dust, blast media and loose materials.
Maintenance and Repair
- Minor areas may be hand or power tool cleaned instead of abrasive blasting.
- Remove dust, blast media and loose materials.
Roughness
- Surface profile Medium (G) (ISO 8503-2).
Recommended Thinner / Cleaner
Certificates and Approvals
- EC-type examined as a low flame spread material when used as
part of a predefined paint system. Please refer to “Declaration of Conformity” for further details.
