International Intertherm 891
International Intertherm 891 is a light reflective single pack oleoresinous aluminium coating that is ideal for pipework, cargo holds, etc. Suitable for use on surfaces that can reach dry heat temperatures up to 250°C.
Best Uses
International Intertherm 891 is an ideal light reflective finish for cargo holds, pipes, etc. Intertherm 891 is suitable for use on surfaces that are likely to reach dry heat temperatures of up to 250°C. This may be extended up to 315°C if the dry film thickness is reduced to 15μm. For use at Newbuilding, Maintenance & Repair or On Board Maintenance.
Application
Use in accordance with the standard Worldwide Marine Specifications. All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination. High pressure fresh water wash or fresh water wash, as appropriate, and remove all oil or grease, soluble contaminants and other foreign matter in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
Preparation for Newbuilding or Major Refurbishment
Intertherm 891 should always be applied over a recommended primer coating scheme. The primer surface should be dry and free from all contamination, and Intertherm 891 must be applied within the overcoating intervals specified (consult the relevant product data sheet). Areas of breakdown, damage etc. should be prepared to the specified standard (eg. Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007)) and primed prior to the application of Intertherm 891.
Preparation for Repair / OBM
Intertherm 891 should always be applied over a recommended primer coating scheme. The primer surface should be dry and free from all contamination, and Intertherm 891 must be applied within the overcoating intervals specified (consult the relevant product data sheet). Areas of breakdown, damage etc. should be prepared to the specified standard (eg. Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007)) and primed prior to the application of Intertherm 891.
Intertherm 891 may be applied directly over aged Intertherm 891 following thorough fresh water washing and degreasing provided the coating to be overcoated is in an intact and tightly adherent condition. Loose or flaking coatings should be removed back to a firm edge and Intertherm 891 or an appropriate primer should be used to repair the area before application of the full coat. Consult our technical team for specific recommendations and procedures.
This material is a one pack coating and should always be mixed thoroughly with a power agitator before application. Apply using airless spray, conventional spray, brush or roller.
Certification and Approvals
