Product Description

Jotun Armour Standard is a non-slip, anti skid coating for steel and concrete surfaces. Jota Armour is a three-pack kit, high solids low VOC epoxy paint coating with very good wear and tear resistance. It is touch dry in 5 hours.

Best Uses

Jotun Jota Armour Standard is to be used on helicopter decks, walkways, ramps, weigh bridge decks, decks in general where abrasion resistance and non-slip properties are required. It is surface tolerant and is a high build thickness in one coat. Spray application ensures speedy application. Use Jotun Armour for severe dry, wet and oily conditions requiring durability, wear resistance and anti-slip properties. Examples of which are flight decks, military applications, escape routes and areas with extreme environments, where abrasion resistance and non-slip properties are essential.

Jotun Armour is approved to U.K. Defence Standard 80-134, for the Royal Navy. Application is a one-coat, high build coating over an anti-corrosive primer.

Application

Depending on the actual exposure of the coating system, various primers and topcoats can be used in combination with this product. Some examples are shown below. Previous coat should be epoxy, epoxy mastic, zinc epoxy. For previously coated surfaces ensure the substrate is clean, dry, compatible and undamaged.

Surfaces to be coated shall be prepared by mechanical preparation methods to minimum St 2 (ISO 8501-1). Suitable methods are disc grinding, hand sanding or hand wire brushing. Ensure the surface is free from mill scale, residual corrosion, failed coating and is suitable for painting. If power wire brushing is used, care should be taken not to polish the metal surface, as this can reduce adhesion of the coating. The surface should appear rough and mat. Overlapping zones to intact coating shall have all leading edges feathered back by sanding methods to remove all sharp leading edges and establish a smooth transition from the exposed substrate to the surrounding coating. Consecutive layers of coating shall be feathered to expose each layer and new coating shall always overlap to an abraded existing layer. Abrade intact coatings around the damaged areas for a minimum 100 mm to ensure a mat, rough surface profile, suitable for over coating.

Refer to application guide sheet for full details. Subsequent coat can be epoxy, epoxy mastic, polyurethane.
