Osmo Polyx Oil, formally known as Osmo Hardwax Oil has become a widely used coating for wooden floors as it has major benefits over varnish. Osmo Polyx Oil is a blend of natural oils and waxes that feed the timber and most importantly allow the timber to breath and also allow moisture to transmit in and out of the wood flooring. Osmo Polyx®-Oil has been specially blended to enhance the wood's true beauty and emphasize the wood's grain and natural characteristics of your wooden floor. Osmo Polyx Oil is available in either a satin matt or satin finish as well as the new slip resistant finishes offering either R9 or R11 slip resistance. Osmo Polyx Oil provides a warm and rich finish designed to ensure that any interior wooden flooring looks luxurious and elegant. Each species of wood has its own style and unique charm, and Polyx Oil enhances each individual wood species natural beauty.

The movement of moisture helps stop the timber from warping and bending out of shape. Osmo Polyx Oil is a blend of natural ingredients that are eco friendly as well as being sustainable. Ingredients such as sunflower oil, soybean and thistle oils are used to feed the timber soaking deep into the wood preventing it from drying and splitting. Carnauba and Candelilla are two natural waxes added to Polyx Oil that coat the wooden flooring producing an aesthetically pleasing matt, or satin matt finish which is hard wearing and scratch resistant. The Carnauba is found in the leave, berries and the stalk of the Copernica cerifera a palm tree from Brazil, the fronds are cut from the tree dried in the sun for up to a week boiled then hand beaten buy local residents to extract the wax. Euphorbia antisyphiliti is grown in northern Mexico and it is the outer coating of this desert shrub that is farmed for the production of Candelilla. In a bid to produce an eco friendly hardwax oil Osmo use an aliphatic petroleum solvent that is benzene free and low odour, this solvent is formulated by the carbon atoms being arranged in an open chain rather than in the typical ring resulting in the more toxic aromatic or ring hydrocarbons being removed.
