Euphorbia antisyphiliti is grown in northern Mexico and it is the outer coating of this desert shrub that is farmed for the production of Candelilla. In a bid to produce an eco friendly hardwax oil Osmo use an aliphatic petroleum solvent that is benzene free and low odour, this solvent is formulated by the carbon atoms being arranged in an open chain rather than in the typical ring resulting in the more toxic aromatic or ring hydrocarbons being removed.
