Mapei Purtop Primer FT

Mapei Purtop Primer FT is a two pack ultra-rapid polyurea primer for treating cementitious substrates before applying waterproofing membranes from the Purtop range.

Best Uses

Primer FT is a special two-component productthat cures in 30 minutes and, when used with membranes from the Purtop range, it allows the waterproofing system to be applied in just one day.

Application

Preparation of the substrate
Surfaces to be treated with the product must be clean and sound with no crumbling or detached areas. The level of moisture in the substrate must be a maximum of 4% and there must be no capillary rising damp. Prepare surfaces with a suitable mechanical process (e.g. shot-blasting) to remove all traces of dirt, cement laitance and crumbling or detached areas and to create a slightly rough, absorbent surface. Before applying Primer FT, remove any traces of dust from the surface with a vacuum cleaner. 

Preparation of the product
Mix the two components that make up Primer FT together just before use with a suitable electric mixer at low speed to prevent entraining air into the mix, for around 2 minutes, or until thoroughly blended.

Application of the product
Apply Primer FT with a roller, trowel or rake on the substrate prepared as specified, in one or two coats depending on its condition, so that it is completely saturated and all surface porosity is sealed. If the maximum recoat time is exceeded, apply another coat of primer before applying the membrane from the Purtop range.
