Thermoguard Safewalls Insulating Basecoat is formulated to achieve EN Class B s1 d0 as part of a two-coat fire protection system on walls.

Best Uses

Thermoguard Safewalls Insulating Basecoat is suitable for use on walls painted with any number or combination of coats of any and all types of sound internal wall paints. Provides exceptional adhesion with permanent fire protection.

Tintable to undercoat shades, this water-based Part 1 of system will achieve:

  • BS EN Class B s1 d0 fire rating for full control of flamespread and toxic smoke emission on painted internal walls and ceilings.
  • Part 1 of system to make walls Anti-Viral and Anti-Bacterial- Both with1 Log/90+% efficacy
  • Part 1 of system to achieve 30 or 60 minute Fire Resistance for compartmentation with additional coats

The final finished system will form a smooth aesthetically pleasing, durable finish resistant to repeated cleaning to internal walls and ceilings.

How it works: In the event of a fire Thermoguard Safewalls Insulating Basecoat expands, forming a heat-resistant char to insulate the surface.

Overcoat with Thermoguard Safewalls Anti-Viral SFR Smoke & Flame Retardant.

Available in 25 & 50 sqm cans. NOTE – For 30 & 60 mins protection on plasterboard or cement board use Thermoguard Wallcoat 30/60 Basecoat

Application

All surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove all possible surface contaminates such as grease, smoke residues, silicates etc. Seal water-stain risks with stain blocking sealer suitable to overcoat with water-based acrylic paints. Abrade hard or smooth surfaces with wetted 120 grit wet or dry abrasive or dust extracting abrader. Rinse off slurry while still damp. When dry remove any loose or suspect material back to firm edge. Fill and repair any damage to the substrate using a good quality remedial filler.

Apply one coat of Thermoguard Safewalls Insulating Basecoat. Overcoat with Thermoguard Safewalls Anti-Viral Smoke & Flame Retardant. Apply at rate stated on can to protect surfaces and enable project Certification. Contact our Technical Team for full detaills.

For brush or roller application, use woven fabric roller sleeves and synthetic bristle brushes. For spray application via Pressure Pot & Gun conventional unit with small compressor: Ensure all traces of solvent flushed out thin 5 > 10% with water to spray viscosity. Adjust fluid flow and air flow as normal for acrylic emulsion paint or Airless Graco 1500, 3500 or equivalent. 3/8” line, 30 mesh filter on machine, no filter in gun. 521 or 523, broad areas 621 or 623 tip.

Ensure coverage is applied as per can i.e., 25 sqm can covers 25 sqm
