Glixtone EM 18 Tough-Cote Textured High Build Coating is self coloured and is best used as a decorative coating with a textured finish that offers outstanding long term protection to walls. Glixtone EM 18 Tough-cote Textured Coating is environmentally friendly and offers excellent adhesion to all sound surfaces, and can also be used to conceal small chips. Glixtone EM 18 Tough-cote Textured Coating can be used in all external and internal conditions on virtually any building substrate. If the surface has any defects, by applying a textured coating, often these defects can be hidden without the need for repairs.
Apply to surface using a trowel in small sections and use a Plasterer’s Float to level for a smooth finish.
If a higher textured finish is required then ‘Lay Off’ the pre-applied surface with an unloaded Honeycomb roller to produce a stripe texture. Ensure to use VERY LIGHT even strokes until the pattern will appear. The slower the roller speed then higher the peaks. The faster the lower.
Always finish on the up stroke, in order to push the marble aggregate into a vertical position. This will ensure that the texture will have a peaked effect when dry. This may require a little practice.
Other types of patterning can be achieved using other plasterers tools. Be aware that the product does have a low ‘Working Time’ i.e. 20 minutes before ‘Skinning’ to provide Shower Proof protection.
If a topcoat colour is required then suitable water based exterior masonry paint may be applied when fully cured. See data sheet for full details. Contact us for suitable water based masonry paint topcoats.
