Hempel Hempadur AvantGuard 750 (1736G) is a two-component, activated zinc-rich epoxy primer in compliance with the requirements in ISO 12944 Part 5, 2018 and Level 2, type II in SSPC Paint 20, 2002. Can utilize ASTM D520, type II zinc dust. Conforms to NORSOK M-501, Ed, 6, system no.1

Hempel Hempadur AvantGuard 750 is best used as a versatile primer for long-term protection of steel in severely corrosive environments.

Application

Remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with suitable detergent. Remove salts and other contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning. Abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007), SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2, with a sharp-edged surface profile corresponding to Rugotest No. 3, BN10a-b, Keane-Tator Comparator, 3.0 G/S, 2-3 S, or ISO Comparator, Medium (G). (Consult the separate APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS) Hempadur Avantguard 1736G can be applied on top of intact 1589x or similar shop primer and any necessary sweep blasting of damaged areas. White rust / zinc salts to be removed mechanically, scrubbing, sanding, water jetting, sweepblasting etc.

Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above: -10°C/14°F. Maximum application temperature is 40°C/105°F. Maximum relative humidity: 95%. Special attention should be made to the prevailing temperature and RH trend to ensure that conditions are within the acceptable range throughout the application and drying time. The temperature of paint itself should be 15°C/59°F or above. Apply only on a dry and clean surface with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.
