Swimming pools require extremely durable coatings to cope with constant submersion in warm chlorinated water, especially outdoors where high levels of UV are present during the summer and often ice in the winter. Promain have been supplying swimming pool paint for 30 years and have a vast amount of experience regarding the supply of the correct paint for every surface. As with all aspects of painting, preparation is the most important part. Cleaners and degreasers are required to remove sediment of body fats, sun tan lotion and salts prior to painting. Primers will need to be selected for each surface. Primers are also important to eliminate non-compatible paint systems.
Chlorinated rubber paint is the traditional coating used on swimming pools, but for better colour retention use a two pack polyurethane which offers a longer life expectancy. Chlorinated rubber, polyurethane and water based paints are suitable for fish ponds and water features. Swimming pool enclosures need paints that are able to cope with high humidity as well as water vapours. Poolside areas often require not only chemical resistant coatings but a degree of anti-slip. Promain are able to offer a range of anti-slip options.
