Mapecoat I 600 W is a two-component, FeRFA Type 1 - Floor Seal that is opaque in colour. Mapecoat I 600 W is an epoxy resin based finish specially formulated to form a shiny, protective anti-dust and anti-oil film, which is applied directly onto concrete or cementitious systems such as Ultratop. Mapecoat I 600 W is also used to encourage bonding on absorbent and porous cementitious substrates before applying Mapefloor I 500 W.
Mapecoat I 600 W can be applied on concrete substrates without a vapour barrier. After preparation and dilution with water, Mapecoat I 600 W may be applied either by spraying, with a roller or with an airless spray, at a variable thickness from 60 to 100 microns.
Mapecoat I 600 W is a two-component, water dispersed epoxy-resin based finish in water dispersion primer, made according to a formula developed in MAPEI's own Research & Development laboratories. Mapecoat I 600 W must be cleaned with cold water immediately after use. Once it has set, the product may only be removed mechanically.
Preparation of the substrate
It is very important to prepare surfaces as specified to guarantee correct application and to obtain the best performance from resin systems. The best way to prepare substrates is mechanically, such as shot-blasting or grinding with a diamond disk. Milling or scarifying are only required if several millimeters of material need to be removed from the surface. After mechanically preparing the surface, remove all waste and dust by thoroughly vacuuming the surface. Once the substrate has been prepared, the surface must be sound, compact, clean, dry, slightly rough, absorbent and free of any material that could affect adhesion of the coating, such as:
Any defects present in the surface, such as holes, pitting, cracking, etc., must be repaired with Primer SN fillerized with quartz sand or made thixotropic with Additix PE or Mapefloor JA or Mapefloor JA Fast depending on the width and depth of the defects or cracks. To repair highly deteriorated areas and joints, fill large hollows and to create or slightly modify the slope in confined areas, use Mapefloor EP19, pre-dosed, three-component epoxy mortar.
Preparation of the product
Pour component A into the container of component B and mix carefully with a low-speed electric mixer for a few minutes to form a smooth, even compound. Dilute the product with water at a rate of 1:1 by weight before applying Mapefloor I 500 W, at a rate of 1:0.5 before applying Mapefloor Urban System and at a rate from 1:1
up to 1:5, depending on the substrate absorption, for anti-dust treatments. Mix again with the mixer for at least 3 minutes.
Application of the product
As primer
Apply Mapecoat I 600 W in a single, even coat by medium or long-pile roller, by spraying or airless system. While the product is still wet, lightly broadcast the surface with Quartz 0.5. Wait at least 3-4 hours before removing any excess of sand from the surface and applying Mapefloor I 500 W (Mapefloor System 53) or Mapefloor Urban System.
As anti-dust treatment
Apply Mapecoat I 600 W in one or more even coats by medium-pile or long-pile roller.
