Mapei Mapefill GP
Mapei Mapefill GP is a general purpose non-shrink grout which, when mixed with water is transformed into a very highly fluid grout without segregation that is able to fill intricate spaces.
Best Uses
Mapei Mapefill GP is recommended for grouting voids in structural elements. These include items such as grouting base plates and bridge bearings, anchoring of steel bars, concrete repairs and filling gaps in precast elements.
Some application examples:
- Anchoring of mechanical equipments.
- Filling of rigid joints between elements in concrete and precast concrete structures.
- Execution of underpinning.
- Pressure grouting of concrete structures.
- Grouting of machine baseplate, bridge bearing.
Application
Remove all deteriorated concrete down to a sound substrate. The substrate must be sound, clean, free of dust, grease, debris and laitance and sufficiently rough. Soak the sides of the cavity to be filled with water. Before pouring, remove all excess water. To facilitate the elimination of unabsorbed water, use compressed air if necessary.
Mixing
Pour 80% of the required mixing water into a suitable rust free container and slowly add a 25 kg bag of Mapei Mapefill GP. Add the remaining water to achieve the desired mortar consistency (water ratios are 4 litres for ‘pumpable’ consistency; 4.5 for ‘pourable’ consistency). Mix for 1-2 minutes with a low speed mechanical mixer, then check that the mixture is well blended by removing any powder left on the sides of the mixer. Re-mix for another 2-3 minutes. Larger quantities can be mixed in a grout mixer.
The mix obtained remains workable for about 1 hour at +20°C.
Applying the grout
Pour the Mapei Mapefill GP mix from one side only into the prepared cavity or shutter in a continual flow in order to prevent the entrapment of air bubbles.
Features
- Excellent impermeability to water
- Excellent adhesion to iron and concrete
- Excellent resistance to dynamic mechanical stress
- Modulus of elasticity and thermal expansion coefficient similar to those of high quality concrete
- Mapefill GP does not contain metal aggregates and aluminium dust
- Non-toxic
- Non-corrosive
- Chloride-free
Recommendations
- Do not add cement or additives to Mapefill GP
- Do not add water when the mix begins to set
