PRODUCT DETAILS
Jotun Tankguard DW is a two component solvent free amine cured epoxy coating. It is specially designed for potable drinking water tanks. Can be used as primer and finish coat in atmospheric and immersed environments.
Best Uses
Tankguard DW is suitable for properly prepared carbon steel, stainless steel, composites and concrete substrates.
Tankguard DW is recommended coating for potable water tanks when performance, application properties and certificates are important with the following benefits:
- Excellent application properties
- Designed for use in drinking water tanks
- Benzyl Alcohol free – no risk of taste or smell
- Minimum 10°C substrate temperature
- Approved for water up to 60°C
Application
Preparation
- Carbon steel: Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1)
- Stainless steel: Abrasive blast cleaning to achieve a surface profile using non-metallic abrasive media which is suitable to achieve a sharp and angular surface profile.
- Aluminium: Abrasive blast cleaning to achieve a surface profile using non-metallic abrasive media which is suitable to achieve a sharp and angular surface profile.
- Composite: The surface shall be hand or machine abraded to impart a scratch pattern to the surface.
- Concrete: Dry abrasive blast cleaning to SSPCSP 13/NACE No. 6.
Application
The product can be applied by airless spray. Brush is recommended for stripe coating and small areas. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.

- Approved by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health for use in contact with potable water.

- Meets the requirements of ANSI/AWWA standard C210-07. Suitable for water pipelines.
