Teamac Marine Matting Agent
Teamac Marine Matting Agent is a matting additive that is used with Teamac Marine Gloss to produce a variety of finishes including matt, satin or semi-gloss.
Best Uses
Teamac Marine Matting Agent is formulated to easily mix with Teamac Marine Gloss and can also be used with Teamac Metalcote. Please see the remark's section for usage guidelines and recommended mixing ratios to achieve various gloss level reductions.
Application
To achieve the required level of gloss reduction the following guideline has been created. It is important to note that the performance of the product will be similar to the original gloss, however, the opacity of the chosen finish will be affected where the Matting Additive is increased and may require multiple coats to achieve full opacity. All reductions are approximate and testing on a non-critical area should be carried out to ensure the required sheen level has been achieved prior to full application. Matt appearance may vary from the original colour.
Recommended guidelines are as follows:
- 25% addition by volume will achieve around a 35% reduction in gloss
- 50% addition by volume will achieve around an 80 to 85% reduction in gloss
- 75% addition by volume will achieve around a 90 and 95% reduction in gloss
All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Existing painted surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate key is produced. Remove all loose, flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate then prepare accordingly.
Mix well before use. Apply via brush or roller.
