Product Description

Blackfriar Exterior Wood Protector Gold Star provides horizontal and vertical exterior wood with protection from weathering. It limits fading due to sunlight, and offers long lasting protection for up to three years on vertical timber (in most climates) and up to 18 months on horizontal timber.

Best Uses

Blackfriar Exterior Wood Protector Gold Star is suitable for use on rough sawn or smooth timber. Its solvent-based formula delivers UV protection as well as water repellence. In addition, this product also
contains a fungicide and algaecide to protect the dry film from fungal and algal degradation.

Suitable for use on fences, sheds, timber joinery, decking and wooden garden furniture, against a number of things, including: rotting, decay, dry rot and mould growth. Blackfriar Wood Protector, also protects the wood against wood-boring insects that can damage wood quickly if left untreated.

  • Provides long lasting protection to all exterior wood
  • Protects against fungal and algal degradation
  • Contains UV filter to protect from sunlight
  • Water repellent
  • Resistant to extreme temperatures

Application

Shake container vigorously prior to use. Ensure wood is clean, dry and free from all surface contamination. Treat any existing mould or mildew with Blackfriar Anti-Mould Solution in accordance with the product recommendations. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly. If the wood is not dry, Blackfriar Exterior Wood Protector Gold Star will not be able to penetrate, and performance may be affected.

Always test on a small area prior to initial application to check colour shade. Product can be applied by brush or roller. It is recommended that good painting practices are followed ensuring the Exterior Wood Protector is applied in favourable weather conditions that are warm and dry.

Apply enough coats to saturate the timber, each coat will cover up to 12m2/L and should be applied wet on wet (allow the first coat to penetrate before immediately applying the next coat). Coverage and the number of coats required will be determined by the substrate porosity. A minimum of two coats are recommended.

For coloured finishes, the clear finish should be inspected on a regular basis and a maintenance coat applied at the first sign of timber degradation or at least annually.

Surface and Environment

Blackfriar Exterior Wood Protector Gold Star is not suitable for areas that are subject to high wear or heavy footfall. When redecorating, solvent based products are advised due to the water repelling additives used in the product.
