Product Description

Hempel Hempadur 47960 is a high build epoxy paint for use as a primer, mid or finish coat, depending on levels of atmospheric corrosion.

Hempadur 47960 is a two-component high build epoxy paint which combines a high volume solids content with quick drying properties. Hempadur 47960 is VOC compliant, has prolonged re-coating properties and is pigmented with zinc phosphate.

Best Uses

Hempel Hempadur 47960 is recommended for use as a primer in atmospheric environments. It can also be used as an intermediate or finishing coat in epoxy systems, for medium to severely corrosive atmospheric environments.

Application

Hempadur 47960 is for professional use only. It should be applied to clean and dry surfaces, with temperatures above dew point to avoid condensation. New steel: Abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007). For temporary protection, if required, use a suitable shop primer. All damage of shop primer and contamination from storage and fabrication should be thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting. For repair and touch-up use: HEMPADUR 47960.

Apply only on a dry and clean surface with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation. Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above: 0°C/32°F. The temperature of the paint itself should be: 15-25°C/59-77°F to secure proper application properties. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. It is important that the surface is completely clean to ensure the adhesion. Any oil, grease, etc. to be removed by suitable detergent.

Surface and Environment

New steel surfaces should be mechanically blasted, before the application of Hempadur 47960. All surfaces should be completely clean and free from oil or grease. Adequate ventilation should be provided, in confined spaces, during the application and drying process.
