KEIM Concretal Black

KEIM Concretal Black is a modern architectural sol-silicate concrete paint for opaque coatings in intensive black.

Best Uses

KEIM Concretal Black is particularly used for the design of concrete surfaces externally and internaly. This product produces an aesthetic, intense, black surface  achieved by using a selected black pigment. Plus, KEIM Concretal-Black protects from weather influences externally. KEIM Concretal-Black can also be used internally for a intense concrete finish in modern buildings and architecture such as shopping centres, galleries, modern house design and more.

However, KEIM Concretal-Lasur is not suitable for ETICS or horizontal and slightly inclined weathered surfaces.

Available in five intensive shades:

• Purity - Pure black is pitch-dark, somewhat dramatic and has a graphic effect that is hard to resist
• Forest - Deep black with a touch of mystic green. Inspired by the fir trees of the mystical Black Forest. 
• Pearl - Elegant black with a deep blue nuance. Inspired by the dark pearls from the depths of the ocean
• Eclipse - Pure black accentuated by a light yellow tone
• Aurora - A black night glows with the harmonic red of the rising sun

Application

All loose, flaking and unstable material must be identified and then thoroughly removed, all surfaces must be thoroughly washed down with clean cold water to remove all surface dirt and dust. When all surfaces are clean, sound, wind dry, dust free and free from all surface contaminants, decoration using KEIM Mineral Paints may proceed.

For new concrete structures, any shuttering oil residues must be removed with KEIM Betonschnellreiniger Conrete Cleaner. Clean, strong concrete requires no pre-treatment.

Highly absorbent substrates or surfaces exposed to severe weather may be coated with a water-repellent substrate treatment (KEIM Silan Primer or KEIM Silan 100). The subsequent base coat of KEIM Concretal-Black is to be applied after approx. 4 hours when using KEIM Silan Primer and after between 4 and 24 hours when using KEIM Silan-100. Highly absorbent or friable substrates should be treated with KEIM Concretal Dilution.

KEIM Concretal-Black should be applied as a two coat system with a minimum period of 12 hours between coats. KEIM Concretal-Black can be applied by brush, roller or airless sprayer (nozzle: 435. See further information on the TDS Airless Technique).

Base coat:
Dilute KEIM Concretal-Black with maximum 10% KEIM Concretal Dilution.

Top coat:
Apply KEIM Concretal-Black undiluted. Keep diluted KEIM Concretal-Black well stirred before and during work. Neither water nor any other materials must be added.
