Owatrol International warrants their Decking Paint against peeling on wooden decks for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase when applied to a properly prepared uncoated or stripped surface in accordance with the label instructions and Technical Data Sheet. Please refer to Technical Data Sheet and the Owatrol Decking Paint Warranty under our Data Sheet Tab.
Owatrol Decking Paint is a water based paint coating that has been specially developed as a premium finish for exterior timber, and is suitable for use on new wood, weathered wood and even previously treated wood. Owatrol Decking Paint is available in 35 stock colours but can be tinted to over 5,000 colours designed to enhance the wood of the decking and also handrails in two simple to apply coats.
A key benefit offered by Owatrol Decking Paint is that it has been blended with Owatrol Emulsa-Bond (EB) that provides adhesion to the timber, not only vertical, but horizontal surfaces too. Owatrol Decking Paint is hard wearing and long lasting, unlike many wood paints and stains available, requires much less preparation before application and will provide a rich matt luster to both cladding and decking boards.
Before the application of Owatrol Decking Paint the surface must be correctly ared, For oil based stains we recommend the use of Owatrol DSP 800 allowed to work and rinse with clean water. For water based stains use Owatrol Prepdeck to remove existing stains followed by Owatrol Net-trol, this must be allowed to dry before the application of Decking Paint.
Owatrol Decking Paint can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray, with a theoretical coverage of 8-10m2 per litre. Prior to application, all surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt to ensure the decking paint can adhere to the surface properly. After you have cleaned the surface appropriately, allow 48 hours for the surface to dry until there is a moisture content of 19% or less (this applies to all surfaces, new, weathered or previously coated).
This hard wearing coating will provide long lasting performance even in areas of high foot traffic and offers the benefit of a guarantee of 5 years against flaking and blistering on horizontal surfaces such as garden decking and even a 15 year warranty on vertical substrates such as cladding and sidings. Suitable for application to fencing, cladding and almost any exterior wooden surface.
