Fire retardant coatings are not designed to upgrade doors to fire doors, fire retardant coatings will provide Class “O” spread of flame but will NOT provide any minutes protection.
Bollom Intulac Ultra Top Coat Matt or Satin has been designed to provide a Class 0 fire rated protective and decorative varnish finish system for interior wood. Bollom Intulac Ultra Top Coat significantly reduces the ignitability of soft and hard woods and other wood derivatives including plywood, chipboard, fibre insulation board, hard board and veneer.
Interlac varnish offers a reduction of ignitability to soft and hard wood and other wood derivatives such as plywood, chipboard, fibre insulation board, hard board, also on veneering that are thicker than 12 mm. Bollom Interlac insulates against heat, checks fire, as well as preventing the propagation of fire and diminishes flue-gas density and flue-gas temperature.
Bollom Intulac Ultra Top Coat Matt or Satin is part of a fire protection system designed for internal use. When used in conjunction with Intulac Base Coat, the system provides high performance fire protection comprising a clear, transparent, water-based, base-coat and a clear, solvent-based, protective top coat; both available in matt and satin finishes.
We can confirm that the Bollom Intulac Ultra system will be suitable to upgrade bare interior gluelam timber, min 12mm thick, to achieve a Class 0 Fire rating.
Bollom Intulac Ultra Top Coat Matt or Satin can be applied using brush, roller or spray - offering ease of application, with a touch dry time of approximately 1 1/2 hours when applied at 20°C. It is fully cured after 6 days (under the same conditions). Bollom Intulac Ultra range has been formulated for the professional painter and decorator but all products are easy to apply and have been fire tested to BS 476 Parts 6, 7.
