Mapei Silancolor Plus Primer

Mapei Silancolor Primer Plus is a silane and siloxane based primer to even out absorption of substrates to make them suitable for painting with the Silancolor Plus range.

Mapei Silancolor Primer Plus forms the base for the Silancolor Plus system for protecting walls. Resisting the growth of mould and mildew, Silancolor Primer Plus performs its protective action right from the start of the painting cycle to prevent any growth or spread of algae or mildew. Suitable for internal and external use, this primer will protect against chemical attack, UV rays and damp while maintaining the breathable characteristics of the substrate, forming a water-repellent coat.

Application

Preparation of the substrate
New surfaces or repaired areas to be treated must be cured and perfectly clean, sound and dry. Remove any trace of oils or grease and detaching parts.

Remove all traces of algae, mould and fungi, if already present. Removal must be carried out when the surface is wet, after thoroughly washing the surface with Mapei Silancolor Cleaner Plus. Silancolor Cleaner Plus must be applied on the whole surface using a low-pressure hand spray pump or a brush, leaving
the product to react for a few minutes and letting it penetrate deep in the substrate. Then remove algae, moulds and fungi mechanically by brushing. Repeat application more than once and continuously apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus, allowing it to penetrate deep in the substrate. Seal any cracks if present and repair damaged areas before application. Fill pores in concrete and level off irregularities on the substrate using mortars and skimcoats from MAPEI Building Line.

Silancolor Primer Plus is supplied ready for use. Shake well before application.

Application of the product
If walls were previously washed using Mapei Silancolor Cleaner Plus, it is sufficient to wait until the surface is completely dry before applying Silancolor Primer Plus. Accurately stir Silancolor Primer Plus before use and apply it with Traditional means, such as brush, roller or spray. Protect the treated surface from rain for at least 12 hours after application. Wait 12 - 24 hours, according to temperature and humidity, and in any case until the substrate is completely dry. Then apply the chosen finish from the Silancolor Plus range.
