Selemix Aqua 2k Waterborne Epoxy Primer 8-450 has a good resistance to water, solvents and abrasion and is ideal for protecting ferrous steel in aggressive environments.

Please note, the Hardener is not included with this product. Compatible Hardeners are Selemix Hardener 9-450.

Selemix 2k waterborne epoxy primer has been formulated with epoxy to provide a highly durable, water, solvent and chemical resistant primer to protect ferrous steel in aggressive environments. Being water based makes the primer highly environmentally friendly without any compromise on performance as this primer performs equally as well or in some cases above and beyond solvent based equivalents.

When used as a primer coat in part of a Selemix paint system 8-540 is ideal for application onto mild steel, aluminium, galvanised steel, previously coated steel, stainless steel, zinc sprayed steel, GRP fibre glass reinforced polyester, light alloys, plant equipment, diggers, dumpers, trailers, bowsers, screed pumps, power barrows, forklifts, reach lifts, gennie lifts, good hoists, breakers, generators, cranes, crawler cranes, lifting gear, chain slings, earthmovers, agricultural equipment, tractors, trailers, ploughs, combine harvesters, bailers, tillers, muck spreaders, machine tools, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, fly presses, guillotines, surface grinders, pull saws, table saws, plasma cutters, water jets, break presses, welding machines, routers, workshop equipment, trolley jacks, car hoists, parts washers, cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycle frames, welfare cabins, shipping containers, electrical cabinets, airport ground support equipment, steel structures, railings, steel doors, roller shutter doors, steel structures, garden furniture plus many more.

Selemix 8-450 is best used as a primer coat in part of a Selemix paint system, when used as part of the aforementioned system it is ideal for application on to bare steel, phosphate steel, stainless steel, galvanised steel, steel structures, machine tools, drill presses, lathes, milling machines, brake presses, guillotines, plant equipment, screed pumps, diggers, dumpers, excavators, earthmovers, power barrow, steel doors, garage doors, roller shutter doors, garden furniture, welfare cabins, electrical cabinets, airport ground support equipment, agricultural equipment, tractors, trailers, tilers, ploughs, muck spreaders, combine harvesters, bailers, welfare cabins, shipping containers, cars, trucks, motorcycle, railings, handrails, light industrial equipment, workshop equipment, troll jack, car hoists, engine lifts, parts washers plus many more

Application

All substrates will need to be suitably abraded and thoroughly degreased prior to application, Selemix 8-450 can be applied by both conventional and airmix spray equipment and when applied at a 50 micron dry film thickness has a theoretical coverage of 6.6-7.6 m2 per litre.

As Selemix 8-450 is a 2 pack paint it will need to be combined with Selemix Hardener 9-450 at a general ratio of 2 to 1 and then thinned with clean water by 2-8% in volume before use, always consult the manufacturer’s technical datasheet prior to use for applicable ratio.
