Best Uses

Zinsser Watertite Basement Waterproofing Paint is a ready to use coating formulated to waterproof interior and exterior concrete, stucco, cement, cinder block and other masonry surfaces. It is ideal for interior basement walls and for sealing concrete basement slabs prior to installing flooring (not recommended for regular foot traffic). It is also a great product for using on exterior foundations and retaining walls, above and below grade.

Zinsser Watertite has been formulated using Portland cement in conjunction with anti-fungal additives which prevent water ingress and mould.

The best use for Zinsser Watertite is a base coat. This product can be tinted to pastel shades to help with the opacity of your chosen topcoat. We would recommend the use of Zinsser Permawhite as a decorative mould resistant topcoat. Zinsser Watertite cannot be tinted to specific pastel shades. It cannot be tinted to dark colours at all.

Application

Stir thoroughly before and during application. Do not thin. Apply when air and surface temperatures are 10°C or higher. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected within 24 hours. Liberally apply the first coat using a thick polyester bristle brush, or by rolling a small section (1m x 1m), and then using a brush to work the coating into the pores of the masonry. Apply as much paint as necessary to produce a continuous, pinhole free film.

Use a 20-25mm nap roller for unpainted, porous surfaces, and use an 18mm nap roller for smooth or previously painted surfaces. The second coat can be brushed or rolled. Do not over spread. Zinsser Watertite is a two coat system. The first coat primes and seals the surface. The second coat completes the sealing process to ensure protection against water intrusion.

After two coats of Watertite have been applied, it can be left as a white finish. If you require a colour, it is recommended the two coats are overcoated with a mould resistant topcoat such as Zinsser Permawhite or Glixtone Fungishield.
