Sika Sikafloor®-405 is a one part, pigmented, highly elastic, solvent containing, UV resistant, moisture triggered curing polyurethane resin coating for interior & exterior flooring.
Sikafloor 405 is a single pack elastomeric pigmented floor paint that is moisture triggered. This polyurethane resin coating is UV resistant, and crack bridging, as well as non-yellowing and has been formulated for concrete floor slabs, cementitious screeds and tiles.
Sikafloor 405 has been developed as a slip resistant waterproof coating that is also water vapour preamble to cope with light to medium mechanical exposure making it ideally suited for use on balconies, footbridges, stairways, terraces, and galleries. Sikafloor 405 is slip resistant, UV resistant, waterproof, crack-bridging coating for concrete, cementitious screed substrates and tiles. This product is ideal for light to medium mechanical exposure or for balconies, terraces, footbridges, stairways, galleries etc.
- Moisture triggered
- Highly elastic
- Water vapour permeable
- UV resistant, non-yellowing
- Weather resistant
- Abrasion resistant with normal use
- Slip resistant
- Fast cure
- Excellent adhesion
The waterproofing system build up must always be over coated with the following finishing system chosen according to the mechanical resistance and the aesthetical aspect
Finish: Deco +
Wear course: 1 x Sikafloor®-405 broadcasted in excess with Sikafloor-Colour Chips Mix, e.g. Gobi
Top Coat: 1 x Sikafloor®-420
Wear course: 1 x Sikafloor®-405 broadcasted slightly with coloured flakes
Top Coat: 1 x Sikafloor®-420 + Sikafloor® Anti Slip Agent
Top Coat: 1 x Sikafloor®-420 + Sikafloor® Anti Slip Agent
The concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm2. The substrate must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments, etc. Old coating and tiles have to be solid, adherent and free of layers detrimental to adhesion. Existing layer has to be cleaned and mechanically roughened. A test area has to be applied.
Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning or grinding equipment to remove cement laitance and achieve an open textured
surface. Weak concrete must be removed and surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/voids and surface levelling must be carried out using appropriate products from the Sikafloor®, SikaDur® and SikaGard® range of materials. The concrete or screed substrate has to be primed or levelled in order to achieve an even surface. High spots must be removed by e.g. grinding. Solid and good adherent tiles must be grinded and then levelled with a scratch coat of Sikafloor®-156 / -161 before applying the chosen Sika Balcony System. All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfaces before application of the product, preferably by brush and/or vacuum.
Prior slightly stir Sikafloor®-405 mechanically before using. Prior to application, confirm substrate moisture content, r.h. and dew point.
Primer: Apply Sika® Bonding Primer by brush or short pile roller.
Coating: Apply first coat Sikafloor®-420 (preferably RAL 7015, minimum 1.1 litre per m2)by long pile paint roller. A brush is only for little applications, local details and reinforcement suitable. Embed Sika® Reemat Premium glass fibre mat in this wet coat. Apply second coat Sikafloor®-405, minimum 0.5 litre per m2 finishing coat, after the first coat is dry. Minimum dry film thickness Sikafloor®-405,with Sika Reemat Premium : 1400 μm; For an additional partial reinforcement under Sika Reemat Premium please use Sika Flexitape Heavy Duty.

The manufacturers data sheets are available for download from this website. It is your responsibility to read and understand all aspects of the data sheets before you place an order and prior to application. Please pay special attention to the preparation, mixing and application temperatures of the product, cleaning of substrate and environmental factors such as temperature, rain etc. Quoted coverage rates are based on the manufacturers theoretical rates and may vary depending upon substrates absorption, texture and application. We always recommend a test is carried out to ensure suitability.
Customer further agrees that Promain have no liability for any errors or omissions contained within the Product Data Sheets and are not liable for failure due to misapplication or inadequate substrate cleaning and preparation. For more information please refer to our Terms & Conditions.
