Product Description

Teknos Nordica Classic is a semi-matt, acrylate based, waterborne paint for exterior wood such as wooden cladding, soffits, weatherboarding, facia boards, fencing etc.

Best Uses

Teknos Nordica Classic is an environmentally friendly facade paint that provides a hard wearing surface that is also dirt-repellent. Teknos Nordica Classic retains its durability and appearance and colour for many years.

Teknos Nordica Classic is suitable for use and application to surfaces previously painted wooden surfaces with acrylate paints e.g. exterior wooden walls, facia boards, soffits and weather boards. May also be used for maintenance painting on most old oil and alkyd paints, if the surfaces are in good condition. Also suitable for maintenance painting of previously with alkyd or acrylate paints painted facade sheetings.

However, this product is not suitable for log surfaces. For log surfaces we would recommend Teknos Woodex Aqua Classic wood stain.

Application

NEW SURFACES:
Treat the surface as soon as possible. At least the impregnation and priming would be best done in the summer of construction. Remove from the surface all loose matter, dirt, dust and mildew. If needed, use Teknos Rensa Facade cleaner. Apply a coat of clear wood preservative from the Teknos Woodex series. Allow to dry for one day. Prime wooden surfaces with Teknos Nordica Primer and allow the surfaces to dry for 1 - 3 days depending on the weather. Wash the metal parts with Teknos Teknosolv 1621 (solvent naphtha) and prime with Teknos Ferrex Aqua.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED OR OLD SURFACES:
Replace deteriorated wooden parts with new ones. Remove loose matter, dirt and dust. Remove the deteriorated paint coats entirely. Note, that the adhesion of an old thick paint layer to the substrate may have been weakened, therefore the paint should be removed although the paint film looks intact. The old paint layer is removed primarily by scraping or wire brushing and possibly by heating the surface with infra-red heater designed for that purpose. Secondarily paint remover or blasting can be used.

The surface of old oil paint coats may be in poor condition: heavily chalked, dusty and brittle. These types of surfaces must be carefully cleaned so, that the new paint adhered properly to the substrate. Some traditional paint types, such as red ochre paint and paraffin oil paint, produce such a brittle and dusty surface, that they can't be maintenance painted with Teknos Nordica Classic. If there is doubt about the adhesion, it must be ensured by test painting. Wash surfaces with Teknos Rensa Facade cleaner and rinse thoroughly.

See product data sheet for more details.

Stir the paint well and apply by paint brush or spray once or twice. If the paint is applied by spray, the surface is to be finished by a brush to ensure the adhesion.
