Application

Preparation
Do not apply to wet or uncured concrete surfaces. The minimum application temperature is 5°C. Please note that curing times will be significantly extended at low temperatures. Under certain site conditions below 10°C there is a risk of whitening (blooming).

Concrete shall be a minimum of 21 days old and/or the residual moisture content shall be below 6%. Ensure that the concrete is clean and free from dust, laitance, grease, oil, curing compound and existing paint finishes etc. Blow holes and defective concrete shall be made good using a proprietary repair compound e.g. Centrecoat MMA Repair Mortar or Centrecoat Epoxy Paste Adhesive.
Diamond grinding or shot blasting is the preferred preparation method prior to application as this ensures that a suitable mechanical ‘key’ is achieved.

Steel surfaces shall be shot blasted or grit blasted to a nominal Sa 2.5 Swedish standard. All dust and grease shall be removed prior to coating application. If a delay is likely to occur between blasting and application then it is recommended that a coat of Centrecoat 2 Pack Anti-Corrosive Primer is applied as a holding primer to obviate flash rusting.

Priming
Porous or dusty surfaces shall be primed using Centrecoat 525 WB Primer. Damp surfaces shall be primed using Centrecoat 2 Pack DPM. Please consult the relevant product data sheets for further information.

Mixing
Pour the contents of the CURING AGENT container into the BASE container and thoroughly mix by mechanical means until a uniform colour is achieved.

Application
Spread using a squeegee where appropriate and/or apply by roller at a rate of 0.25-0.3kg per m². Following overnight cure apply a second coat at the same rate. To achieve a slip-resistant finish then, depending on the profile required, either incorporate a suitable texturing additive or broadcast an appropriate aggregate immediately on to the 1st coat. Brush off excess aggregate prior to applying the 2nd coat.
